Commissioned by the Arcadia Summer Arts Program, Yugon explored a material and spatial intervention in an abandoned schoolhouse in the town of Northeast Harbor on Maine’s Mount Desert Island. Using existing building materials left on site, the installation explored how space can be shaped by harnessing light and air with the most minimal use of materials. Using the existing architectural elements of the space to define the overall volumes and the discarded plastic paint tarps’ natural ability to shrink when heated, the installation captured light and air, twisting the space and how users experienced it.
