The Guilford High School Theatre was part of the 216,000 square foot Guilford High School project that was completed in the summer of 2014 in Guilford, CT. The 8,500 square foot theater seats 550 people and includes a sound booth, orchestra pit, thrust stage, flyspaces, and wings.
A result of careful coordination with an acoustical consultant, the design provides clear and resonant acoustics. Birch-clad faceted wall panels define the lower occupied space and a system of folded Yyes Klein inspired blue walls above, providing excellent reverberation time and diffusion. Mesh panels are hung from above, acting as an acoustical reflector and created visual layering. The panels filter views through the mesh catwalk and other overhead systems, elegantly integrating all house and theatre lighting as well as fire protection.
