work: Cultural and Public Galleries: Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Director's Office
IKD was hired to renovate and provide new functionality through custom furniture design for the incoming director's office at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in 2017. IKD was asked to find a balance between new and old within the fourth floor of the historic Palazzo that was originally the residence of Isabella Gardner. By rethinking the overall space and layout, modernizing room lighting, and by mixing custom- designed furniture with carefully selected furnishings, IKD updated the space while also being respectful to the historic nature
of the existing space. Taking cues from the historic molding within the space, IKD designed a desk and bookshelves made from CNC (computer numeric control)-processed solid cherry wood
